Following is a list of recent performances by the Castro Valley Community Band, with a list of pieces where available. More past programs will be added. (Band members, if you have a collection of old programs, may I borrow them? See Contact the Band at left.)

We played our annual joint concert with the band at Bishop O'Dowd High School. Selections included American River Songs, Gala for Band, Queen in Concert, and Pirates of the Caribbean. With the O'Dowd band we played John Philip Sousa's El Capitan March.

The Castro Valley Community Band warmed up the crowd before the annual Rowell Ranch Rodeo Parade in downtown Castro Valley.

Several hundred people packed the Castro Valley Center for the Arts to watch the Castro Valley Community Band perform Totem Pole (Osterling), Pines of Rome (Respighi), Belle of the Ball (Anderson), Concertino (Chaminade; with Elizabeth Gaston, flute soloist), Hogan's Heroes March (Fielding), Mary Poppins (Sherman & Sherman), Lassus Trombone (Fillmore), Nobles of the Mystic Shrine (Sousa), Let There Be Peace on Earth (Ades), Farewell of the Slavic Girl (aka "Abschied der Slavin," Agapkin), Battle Hymn of the Republic (Ployhar), and Eine Kleine Rockmusic (Jennings).

The Castro Valley Community Band and the Bishop O'Dowd High School band presented our annual joint concert at O'Dowd's beautiful Performing Arts Center. We played Nobles of the Mystic Shrine (Sousa), A Copland Tribute (arr. Grundman), and Eine Kleine Rockmusic (Jennings). The O'Dowd Band played The Sinfonians (Williams), Amparito Roca (Jaime Texidor), and In All Its Glory (Swearingen). Then the combined bands played Battle Hymn of the Republic (Ployhar) and The Thunderer (Sousa).

Our annual holiday concert was a well-attended, rousing success. Set list to come.

The band warmed up the crowd on a sunny spring morning before the Rowell Ranch Rodeo Parade, accompanied by barking dogs and growling motorcycles. Once again, Charlie Chaplin took his turn conducting the band, with the expected noteworty results. The audience stayed off to the side -- in the shade -- but enjoyed the Sousa marches and other selections.
